Decorators' Show House 2013 - The Family Lounge

A decidedly more casual tone than the public spaces, the Family Lounge exudes relaxation. A mix of pure white fabrics with navy and coral accents creates a striking contrast and provides the family with the perfect place to watch TV, read a good book, or just sit back and relax. Classic furniture pieces have been updated just enough for modern living, but blend beautifully with the historic architecture of the home. One might be surprised by the use of pure white fabrics, but the upholstered pieces are covered in Crypton fabric that is nearly indestructible and easy to clean, so it’s the perfect choice for family living. Bold patterned rugs are trendy and inexpensive, so they can easily be changed as trends dictate – as are the snakeskin ottomans. The silver-leaf “dry bar” provides a great place to hold the homeowner’s favorite adult beverages and an old chest has been painted in high-gloss coral to add energy and fun. The highlight of the space is the specially commissioned artwork from Indiana artists Rita Spalding and Barry Lantz. Their masterful pieces bring all of the colors of the room together to create stunning focal points.
